All the universities in Azerbaijan are provided with the libraries in order the students to be able to progress in their relevant field of study and research with the resources that they need. Several universities such as libraries of ADA University, Western Caspian University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction and Baku State University are equipped with the latest technology to provide their students with the e-books. Moreover, those libraries have established connections with the well-known databases such as JStor, ProQuest, Oxford Reference Online, EB, which allow students to access millions of online articles, books, journals in different subjects for their educational purposes. Eventually, those libraries are provided with the reading halls and other opportunities in order to provide healthy learning environment for the students.
The most of the higher educational units in Azerbaijan agree with the necessity of sports in any students’ life. Going to sports motivate students and provide them with necessary physical qualities in their future professional life. Therefore, the administration of universities motivates their students to engage into sports besides being involved into professional and academic life. The universities such as UNEC, BSU, AMU are provided with the necessary infrastructure such as sport halls, football fields, and fitness halls. At some universities, sports related courses are offered as a compulsory course in the 1st year of the study programm regardless of the major the student has chosen. Eventually, the competitions such as football or basketball championships are organized with the joint cooperation of the universities in Azerbaijan.
Support and Advice Centres
The academic period is one of the challenging parts of student's life. Lots of deadlines, midterms, finals, concerns about your future job make the students anxious. Therefore, well-known universities in the world have special support and advice centers inside the campuses which provide mental and emotional support and advice for them. Since the same case applies to the students in Azerbaijan, it is required for the universities to open such centers to provide those services to the students during their challenging time at certain points of their life.
Most of the students in Azerbaijan have concerns and questions in their head regarding the major that they study or the future employability of what they study, etc. In order to assist students to answer those questions, special career centers are established inside the universities. Career Centers (UNEC-Carreer Center, Khazar University-Carreer Development Center, etc.) organizes seminars, individual advising sessions, and other professional services to help students to understand who they are and what are their skills through self-assessment. Moreover, the events, workshops, special career development courses are organized to assist students to prepare the professional resume, be an effective communicator and practice for a future job interviews. Therefore, expanding of such career centers at universities would be beneficial for the students to become more proficient candidate for the labor market.
