A webinar titled "Education's role in promoting global peace and understanding" was held as part of "International Education Week 2023". 

At the initiative of the Council of Europe, a number of events are traditionally carried out every year within the framework of the "Global Education Week" in different countries of the world in order to create a better world and increase awareness of the importance of education. In our country, within the framework of "Global Education Week 2023", a webinar called "The role of education in promoting global peace and understanding" was held under the organization of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.   

Professor Scherto Gill, director of the "Global Humanity for Peace Institute" of the University of Wales, department head of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Secretary of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Huseyn Huseynov participated in the meeting. After the opening speech of Muzhdat Hasanov, the sector head of the international cooperations department, Professor Scherto Gill talked about the understanding between cultures, the globalization of education, and the integration of the topic of peace into the education system. Later, Huseyn Huseynov talked about the steps taken to ensure peace in the world and society, the "5P" - people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership goals within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are global goals, and the importance of education in promoting peace in post-war societies.   

The meeting was also attended by foreign students studying in Azerbaijan through the UNHCR scholarship, educational grant programs for citizens of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, and Azerbaijani youth studying abroad within the framework of State Programs and Intergovernmental Scholarship Programs. At the end of the webinar, students studying in different countries addressed their questions to the guests and shared their experiences of studying abroad.
